ICM Youth Enjoy Convention

As the officers of the ICM conducted their annual meeting during the ICM 2007 convention, the ICM Faithful Stewards had more important things in mind. Bible study? Devotion? Sessions to improve their spiritual growth?  Sorry, but none of these.  The Faithful Stewards instead built cohesion by playing sports in Ewa Beach Park.

In the past years and as part of a traditional Filipino churches convention, different churches usually compete against each other in these sporting events.  With this in mind, Brother Noel Pastor combined the youth groups of Oahu and Maui and built teams from the combined group.  "The idea is to break any barriers", he says, "take the young people from the groups they normally spend time with and mix them with other young people they hardly know.  Take them out of their comfort zones."

Through the leadership of Brother Chris Diocares and Brother JR Duquez, the teams played basketball, dodge-ball, tug-of-war, football, then more basketball.

Brother Noel says, "At first you could tell the youth were uncomfortable with the teams. As they continued playing the sport activities, you could see a great change.  They began interacting and laughing with each other.  It was really amazing to see the cohesion being built before my eyes.  From strangers to close brothers and sisters in the Lord, even just for a moment.  of course, the services were great but the sports events were icing on a cake.   I'm sure they will always look back to this part of the convention."

Coming Home, A New Beginning

It is often preached that for a potter to make a beautiful vase, he must sometimes break an existing vase then use the broken pieces to make a new vase that is far much more beautiful than the broken vase. As individuals and collectively as a body of believers, God sometimes has to break us also to create something new, something more beautiful, something stronger in order to accomplish his plans. .........Read Article

FS Philippines, Cornerstone of Ministry

The youth of the church are the hope for the continuity of God’s ministry in this world. As members of the Faithful Stewards Inc., the official youth organization under the International Christ Ministries (ICM) Inc., each youth must display their ardent faithfulness and responsible stewardship.

It is high time to redefine the concept of our church’s youth about their role in the church and in the ministry. Though the Faithful Stewards in the Philippines gather annually for fellowship and camaraderie-building, oftentimes, there was neither tangible output nor significant growth in the ICM’s youth ministry. At the end of each annual gathering, most of the attendees would feel revived, blessed and closer to the Lord… But how long do these feelings last? What do the youth do once they were revived, blessed and closer to the Lord? What are the fruits and end-results of our Annual Youth Camp?.................................

When Duty Calls

As the United States continue to face the war in Iraq, families continue to make the sacrifice as they answer to the nation's call. The United States Armed Forces in not only made up of the men and women in the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard. The Total Force, as it is called, also include Department of Defense civilians and contractors who are hired by companies who provide their services to the United States government. One of these contractors is International Christian Ministries' own Brother Quirino Bangloy. Bro. Bangloy, or "Uncle Kirin", or "Grandpa Bangloy", as he is know in the church, is one of the pioneers of the International Christian Mission along with his beloved wife Pastor Mary Bangloy. The International Christian Ministries recently bid their goodbyes to Brother Bangloy as he once again answered the call to serve our nation. He is currently serving aboard a United States Naval ship. The International Christian Mission prayed for Brother Bangloy and Pastor Mary as he got ready to depart for another mission. We surely appreciate the sacrifices of this family. These sacrifices, sad to say sometimes unrecognized by many, allow us to do what we do each day in safe environments. We salute you, and our hearts and prayers are with you. Thank you for your sacrifices.
